6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Indonesia

Jakarta: An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 rattled Indonesia's southern province of East Nusa Tenggara on Thursday morning.
According to international media reports, residents in the provincial capital of Kupang rushed out of their homes in fear as debris fell from buildings.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties resulting from the earthquake.
Indonesia's Geophysics Agency, BMKG, measured the earthquake's magnitude at 6.1.
The US Geological Survey pinpointed the earthquake's epicenter at a depth of 36.1 kilometers west of Timor Island, near the city of Kupang.
The tremors from the earthquake were felt not only in the provincial capital but also in several other cities in the province.
Local authorities have reassured the public that there is no threat of a tsunami.
Following the initial earthquake, mild aftershocks were also experienced in the region.
