Caretaker CM of KP passes away
According to details, the caretaker CM was taken to hospital last night when his health deteorated.
Peshawar: The caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Azam Khan has been passed away on Tuesday.
According to details, caretaker Chief Minister KP Azam Khan was shifted to the hospital due to ill health, however he could not survive.
The spokesman RMI Hospital Shabir Shah said that Azam Khan was suffering from various diseases including fever and diarrhea due to which he did not attend the meeting of the provincial cabinet yesterday.
The members of the caretaker cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the family members of Azam Khan have reached the hospital. His funeral prayer will be offered at his village in Charsadda today at 3:30pm.
He studied law from Peshawar University, was a retired bureaucrat and also served as Assistant Commissioner and Commissioner. Azam Khan has also served as Chief Secretary and Secretary of various Ministries.
It is pertinent to note that Azam Khan was nominated by the opposition leader after the collapse of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and when this name was put before the former Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, he immediately appointed him as the Caretaker Chief Minister of the province. Then Azam Khan was sworn in as caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 21 January 2023.
Azam Khan’s brother Abbas Khan has been the Inspector General (IG) of KP. While another brother, Shuja Khanzada, has been the Interior Minister of Punjab. Apart from this, former Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Taj Muhammad Khanzada, Gohar Ayub and Umar Ayub are also his close relatives.
