Islamabad: The federal government of Pakistan is expected to further increase the per unit price of electricity.
According to the details, electricity is likely to be more expensive by Rs3.53 per unit as there is hearing today (Wednesday) on the appeal for the increase in fuel price and arrears.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will take a final decision on the petition of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) after hearing.
It is reported that the increase in electricity prices has been demanded in the context of the October Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) by Rs0.36 according to the cost of production for the month of October.
Apart from this, it has also been stated that Rs3.16 have been included in the application as arrears.
The total arrears due to fuel price is more than Rs28 billion, while the additional burden of FCA and arrears totaling 40 billion rupees will burden the consumers.
