Islamabad: The Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto presidential reference hearing is being broadcasted live in the Supreme Court today (Tuesday).
According to the details, a nine-member larger bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) is hearing the presidential reference related to the judicial killing of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawyer Farooq H. Naik and Attorney General Mansoor Usman are present on the rostrum.
Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former President Asif Zardari are also present in the court room to witness the court proceedings.
Bilawal's petition
Earlier on yesterday, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari filed an appeal in the Supreme Court for the live broadcast of the presidential reference hearing against Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's execution.
The position was taken in the petition that as the grandson of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, he requested for justice. Bhutto always played a role for the supremacy of law, his murder is a stain on the justice system.
The petition said that live telecasting of the case is very important to put the facts before the public.
It is pertinent to note that earlier in 2011, the then President Asif Ali Zardari filed a reference related to the judicial killing of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also conducted six hearings of the case till December 2012, however no decision was made related to the reference.
