The latest reports say that the letter is reportedly addressed to the Ambassador of the Israeli embassy.
New Dehli: The Israeli embassy confirmed a blast nearby its consulate building in the Indian capital on Tuesday.
The latest reports suggested that a letter wrapped in an Israeli flag was discovered at the blast site. The letter is reportedly addressed to the Ambassador of the Israeli embassy.
“At around 5:08 pm, there was a blast in close proximity to the embassy,” said the embassy’s spokesperson.
The Delhi police and the security team are still investigating the situation.
The Delhi Police received an alert about the blast in the Chanakyapuri area, which houses diplomatic missions in the capital.
The blast was reported following an unidentified caller's notification to the Delhi Fire Service at approximately 6 pm today.
The caller asserted that an explosion occurred on an empty plot behind the Israeli embassy.
A specialized police team, accompanied by the bomb squad, promptly reached the location for a thorough examination. The Delhi Fire Department chief confirmed that nothing suspicious was found at the site.
An eyewitness described the sound as “quite loud”. The witness stated, “This happened around 5 pm; I was on duty and heard a loud sound. When I came out, I saw smoke billowing from the top of a tree, that's all I saw...Police have taken my statement,”.
The police took the letter into the custody and started investigation.
