The premier expressed serious concern over the emergence of new cases of polio in the country


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday announced the construction of a world-class Quaid-e-Azam Health Tower in Islamabad.
A meeting regarding the affairs of the Ministry of National Health was held under the chairmanship of Shehbaz Sharif. He directed to immediately prepare an action plan regarding the construction of the health tower under public-private partnership.
The Prime Minister said: “The health sector is a very important and sensitive sector that has the important duty of saving human lives, apart from the best quality hospitals, a medical university should also be included in the health tower. While a nursing university, laboratories equipped with modern technology and disease diagnosis centers should also be established.
In the meeting, the premier expressed serious concern over the emergence of new cases of polio in the country and stated that he would ensure the complete eradication of polio by utilizing the country's resources and with the help of partners.
Shehbaz also directed to conduct a third-party audit of the quality and performance of laboratories under the Ministry of National Health, including the appointment of the best-qualified health professionals in the Ministry of National Health and its affiliated institutions.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister directed to set up a plan of action to separate drug pricing from Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and conduct a human resource audit of all government hospitals in Islamabad.
He directed to conduct an audit of nursing schools and colleges across the country and said that he would personally monitor the health of Islamabad.
The meeting was given a detailed briefing regarding the performance of the Ministry of National Health.
