Move challenged to detain PTI leaders ahead of rally
Despite NOC, DC has issued detention orders for PTI leaders and workers
Lahore: The decision to issue detention orders for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders before the rally was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
In the Lahore High Court, PTI leader Zainab Umair applied through the mediation of Azhar Siddique Advocate, the Punjab Government and Deputy Commissioner (DC) among others have been made parties in the application.
It has been stated in the petition that PTI is going to hold a meeting in Lahore today for which the administration has issued the NOC. Despite the NOC, the DC has issued detention orders for PTI leaders and workers.
The petition further stated that the Deputy Commissioner has used his powers illegally. His orders are tantamount to spreading fear among the people. The court should immediately declare the detention orders of the Deputy Commissioner null and void.
