The extension was set into motion as it took a crowdsourced approach last year.
The trends in the collected data indicate the harm that can be inflicted with YouTube’s current approach.
It had gathered nearly 3,362 reports, beside information from people who installed the extension but did not forward reports,
The foundation concluded 12.2% reported videos which violated YouTube’s own regulations for content. While nearly 200, have been later censored by platform, after gaining more than 160 million views.
Mozilla senior director of advocacy Brandy Guerkink stated, “YouTube needs to admit their algorithm is designed in a way that harms and misinforms people’’.
