Bollywood’s veteran actor Surekha Sikri dies of cardiac arrest at 75
Mumbai: Bollywood’s three-time National-Award winning actor Surekha Sikri died of cardiac arrest at the age of 75 on Friday morning.
The news of her death was confirmed by her agent through a statement that read that the actor had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke.
"Three-time national award winning actress, Surekha Sikri has passed away following a cardiac arrest earlier this morning at the age of 75. She had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke," the actor's agent Vivek Sidhwani said.
"She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time. Om Sai Ram," he added.
The actress had suffered a brain stroke last year in September as well. She was discharged from the hospital after a few days.
Surekha Sikri made her debut in Bollywood in 1978 with the film Kissa Kursi Ka. She is best known for her performances in "Tamas", "Mammo", "Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro", "Zubeidaa", "Badhaai Ho" and daily soap "Balika Vadhu". She was last seen in Zoya Akhtar's short film ‘Ghost Stories’ which was premiered on Netflix.
She is survived by her son Rahul Sikri.
