Heavy machinery has been called in to remove the debris


Karachi: A five-storey residential building collapsed in the Lyari area of Karachi. Four bodies and six injured people were pulled out of the rubble of the building. Rescue operations are underway to rescue more people buried in the rubble.
Immediately after the incident, teams of rescue agencies, police, and Rangers reached the spot and rescue operations were started. According to rescue sources, six families were living in the building. Heavy machinery has been called in to remove the debris.
The hospital administration says that six injured people have been taken to the trauma center, one of whom is in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, several families were living in the building, which was in a dilapidated condition before the collapse. The administration has cordoned off the area and appealed to the citizens not to interfere with the rescue operations.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken immediate notice of the building collapse incident. He expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident and has sought an immediate report from the concerned authorities.
The Sindh Chief Minister has directed the rescue agencies to evacuate the people buried under the rubble as soon as possible and provide immediate medical assistance to the injured. Murad Ali Shah has sought details of dilapidated and decaying buildings across Karachi from the Sindh Building Control Authority.
On the other hand, Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori has also expressed deep concern over the incident and directed the rescue agencies to intensify immediate relief operations. The Sindh Governor said that the safe evacuation of the people buried under the rubble is the top priority, and the injured should be provided with immediate medical assistance and possible facilities.
