Chilas: Traffic remained suspended and several tourists and locals are stranded following the partial closure Karakoram Highway after a landslide in Chilas.
According to local media, the Karakoram Highway is closed at seven points from Tata Pani to Lal Pari, including Gandlo and Raikot.
The commissioner of Chilas said that rehabilitation work is underway and heavy machinery has been installed on both sides of the Karakoram to clear the passage.
Moreover, the city is receiving heavy rain for the past three days which has damaged several houses and crops.
Local media reported that the Khaner Valley lost ground connection with the city and it could not be restored even after two days.
Rains have been pouring in the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan for the last 72 hours resulting in suspension of ground connections due to landslides at various places.
