Islamabad: A fake claim of scaling Spantik Peak, a 7,027-meter-high mountain in Asia, has been exposed. The Alpine Club of Pakistan’s senior voice president Karar Haideri has declared the claims of mountaineers Sohniya Mehrin Babar, Amna Shagri, Mehboob Ali, and Amin Hoshiyari, to be false.
The Alpine Club, which values integrity above all else, has emphasized that honesty is essential in all sports.
The club stated that mountaineering is a matter of life and death, and false claims, whether about summiting peaks, using supplemental oxygen, or solo climbing, undermine the spirit of mountaineering and diminish the achievements of genuine climbers.
The club's investigation has confirmed that the claim made by the Mountaineers was entirely fabricated. The Alpine Club has reiterated its commitment to upholding the values of mountaineering and promoting a culture of honesty and integrity in the sport.
