Pakistan chairs virtual meeting of Special Representatives of countries neighboring Afghanistan

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Special Representative (SR) for Afghanistan Ambassador Sadiq hosted a meeting on Sunday through video link of the SRs from the neighboring states of Afghanistan.

Envoys of China, Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the digital meeting and conferred on the evolving status quo of the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) tweeted a picture of the Pakistani Ambassador chairing the conference.

The MoFA twitter said, “Pakistan’s SR emphasized the importance of evolving common regions' approach to address common challenges and realize opportunities arising from a stable Afghanistan”.

In his tweet Pakistani Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq said, “Pakistan chaired the virtual meeting of Special Representatives of neighboring countries of Afghanistan. Colleagues from Iran, China, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan were unanimous that peace in Afghanistan is vital for security, stability and prosperity of the entire region”.

It must be noted that since the fall of Kabul; Pakistan has been proactive in pacifying the on ground situation and helping in the evacuation of foreign nationals.

The Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed also visited Afghanistan yesterday.
