Islamabad: Government is all set to raise electricity tariff amount to roughly Rs. 0.92/per unit from this month amid already increasing inflation.

According to details, Central Power Purchasing Agency (CCPA) has submitted an application to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) regarding increase in electricity rates by Rs 0.92 per unit.
The decision to increase power tariffs is being made in the context of monthly fuel adjustment.
The application submitted to NEPRA states that 7.72 billion units of electricity were generated in the month of January.
The cost of fuel for power generation was estimated at Rs 5.75 per unit, whereas the fuel cost was Rs 6.68 per unit, the application stated, requesting an increase in tariffs.
NEPRA will hear the petition regarding hike in electricity rates on February 25.
Earlier on February 12, the electric regulatory body approved an increase of Rs. 1.95 per unit in power tariff, which was third energy price rise in three days.
On February 11, electricity prices were increased by R. 0. 83 and on February 10, Nepra approved increase in electricity rates by Rs. 1.53 per unit on account of monthly fuel cost adjustment.
