Petition requested that constitutional amendments be declared unconstitutional and null and void

Islamabad: Another petition against the proposed constitutional amendments was filed in the Supreme Court.
The petition was filed by Advocate Saim Choudhary, in which the government, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate, among others, have been made parties.
The position was taken in the petition that the federal government cannot make amendments that conflict with the Constitution. The amendments related to the judiciary are tantamount to taking away the independence of the judiciary. The proposed constitutional amendments are against fundamental rights. The government wants to abolish the powers of the Supreme Court and the High Court through constitutional amendments.
The petition requested that the proposed constitutional amendments be declared unconstitutional and null and void. Any amendments related to the judiciary should be sent to all stakeholders after scrutiny.
