CM Punjab forms investigation committee for alleged rape of college student
Committee will review all aspects including the immediate response of the college administration and handling of police


Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz formed a high-level committee to investigate the incident of the alleged rape of a student of a private college located in Gulberg, area of Lahore.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the formation of a committee to investigate the alleged rape of a female student in Lahore, which will investigate and submit a report to the Chief Minister within 48 hours.
According to the notification, a six-member committee will work under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Punjab. The Secretary Interior, Advocate General Punjab, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Special Education, and Secretary Specialised Healthcare and Medical Health will be members of the committee.
According to the officials, the committee can appoint any other member to help it and it will collect evidence regarding the alleged rape of the student and will also record the statements of the students, teachers and management of the college.
Officials stated that the committee will review all aspects including the immediate response of the college administration and handling of the police issue.
It is pertinent to note that the news of a private college student being allegedly raped by a security guard came out yesterday, after which the students boycotted the classes and started protesting across the city.
