Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Mazari accuses assembly staff of ‘spreading confusion’, says will play ‘constitutional role’.

Lahore: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government Wednesday moved a no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Dost Mazari to remove him from office, GNN reported.
According to details, the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Dost Mazari, earlier in the day, said that the Assembly Secretariat is not cooperating with the Deputy Speaker.
If the assembly secretariat does not issue the notification then it will be committing contempt of court, Dost Mazari said.
The speaker further said that he has called the session on Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order and the Secretariat should also issue a gusseted notification for the session on his orders.
Reports quoting sources had confirmed that the secretary of the Assembly refused to follow the orders of the deputy speaker.
Dost Mazari has also rejected the belief that the critical assembly session had been postponed till April 16 and reiterated that it would be held at 7:30pm today.
He also alleged that some Punjab Assembly staff members were playing a “wrong role” regarding the convening of the session.
After a notification issued by Punjab Assembly, Deputy Speaker delayed the session till April 16 before reportedly withdrawing the order. However, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle accused the deputy speaker of trying to create ‘confusion’ to benefit the other side.
The lawmakers also appeared to be confused about the date of the session because the PRO of the speaker and the PRO of the assembly differed on the date of the session to elect the Chief Minister.
Reportedly, Mazari’s PRO said the session would be held on April 6 (today), whereas the assembly PRO said the notification for April 16 was valid.
