PTI rules the roost in Punjab by-elections, bags 15 seats

Lahore: The PTI leadership and workers were continuing with celebrations on Sunday night as preliminary, unofficial results in the by-election on 20 constituencies of Punjab, showed the party had decimated its rival, the PML-N, in the contest.

According to the unofficial final count, the PTI won 15 seats, while the PML-N managed to clinch victory in only three, and an independent candidate grabbed one.

The PTI candidates have won six out of 20 seats, while they are ahead in 10 out of 14 seats in the Punjab by-elections, unofficial and incomplete results suggested on Sunday.

PML-N candidates are ahead in three constituencies.

In the by-elections, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz needs nine more seats to retain the chief ministership, while the PTI needs to win 13 seats to rule Punjab.

Here's the unofficial results: 

PP-7 Rawalpindi

According to the unofficial results of 18 polling stations of PP-7 Rawalpindi so far, PTI is leading with 3,504 votes while PML-N is in second place with 3,443 votes.

PP-90 Bhakkar

According to the unofficial unofficial results of 46 polling stations of PP-90 Bhakkar, PTI's Irfanullah Niazi is first with 17, 830 votes, while PML-N's Saeed Akbar Nawani is second with 13, 115 votes.

PP-97 Faisalabad

According to the incomplete results of 48 polling stations in Faisalabad, Ali Afzal Sahi of PTI is in first place with 16, 164 votes, while Ajmal Cheema of PML-N is in second place with 15, 207 votes.

PP-127 Jhang

The unofficial and incomplete results of PP-127 Jhang polling station number one have also come out. PTI's Nawaz Bharwana secured 180 votes, while PML-N's Aslam Bharwana is second with 89 votes.

PP-140 Sheikhupura

According to the unofficial results of all 165 polling stations of PP-140 Sheikhupura, PTI candidate Khurram Shehzad Virk won by getting 49, 737 votes, while PML candidate Mian Khalid Mehmood was second with 32, 812 votes.

PP-158 Lahore 

According to the unofficial unofficial results of all 151 polling stations of PP-158 Lahore, PTI's Mian Muhammad Akram Usman won with 37, 463 votes, while PML-N's Rana Ahsan was second with 31, 906 votes.

PP-167 Lahore

According to the unofficial unofficial results of all 140 polling stations of PP167, PTI's Shabbir Ahmed won with 40, 511 votes, while PML-N's Nazir Ahmed Chauhan was second with 26, 473 votes.

PP-168 Lahore

Malik Asad Ali of PML-N won from PP-168 Lahore by getting 26, 169 votes, while Muhammad Nawaz Awan of PTI was second with 15, 767 votes.

PP-170 Lahore

According to the unofficial results of eight polling stations of PP-170 Lahore so far, PTI's Malik Zaheer Abbas has secured 2,076 votes and PML-N's Muhammad Amin Zulqernain is second with 1,355 votes.

PP-183 Khushab

Unofficial results of 10 polling stations in Khushab constituency of PP-183 suggests that PML-N candidate Haider Singha is ahead with 2, 250 votes, while independent candidate Malik Asif is second with 1, 920 votes, while the PTI candidate is third in race.

PP-202 Sahiwal

According to the unofficial results of 79 polling stations of PP-202 Sahiwal, PML-N candidate Malik Noman AHmad Langrial is in the first place with 25, 389 votes while PTI's Major (retired) Ghulam Serer is second with 25, 206 votes.

PP-217 Multan

According to the unofficial results of all 124 polling stations of PP-217 Multan, PTI candidate Zain Qureshi won with 46,963 votes, while PML-N candidate Salman Naeem came second with 40,104 votes.

PP-224 Lodhran

According to the unofficial unofficial results of all 158 polling stations of PP-224 Lodhran, PTI's Aamir Iqbal Shah won with 69, 881 votes, while PML-N's Chaudhry Zwar Hussain Waraich was second with 56, 214 votes.

PP-228 Lodhran

In PP-228 Lodhran, in 32 out of 136 polling stations, independent candidate is leading with 9,059 votes, while PTI is second with 7,553 votes.

PP-237 Bahawalnagar

According to the unofficial results of 120 polling stations of PP-237 Bahawalnagar, PML-N is in first position with 51,817 votes, while PTI is in second position with 21,669 votes.

PP-273 Muzaffargarh

According to the unofficial results of 22 polling stations of Muzaffargarh, PML-N is first with 21, 065 votes and the PTI candidate is in second place with 16, 604 votes.

PP-282 Layyah

According to the unofficial results of 66 polling stations of PP-282 Layyah, PTI candidate won with 23,755 votes while the PML-N candidate got 13,812 votes.

PP-288 DG Khan

According to the unofficial results of DG Khan, Sardar Saifuddin Khosa of PTI won with 59,000 votes, while Sardar Abdul Qadir Khosa of PML-N came second with 33,498 votes.

-- ECP management system working efficiently --

A spokesperson of the Election Commission of Pakistan says that the Election Commission results management system is working in the best way and so far the results of 1 thousand 275 polling stations out of 3 thousand 131 polling stations have been received.

According to the Election Commission, the results are being displayed directly in the offices of all the results returning officers. According to the results received so far, the turnout was 47.8 percent. PTI came with 47.2 percent votes while PML-N got 39.2 percent votes.

It should be noted that these elections are taking place after the seats of the defected members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who were disqualified for voting against the party policy, became vacant.
