Furious Bilawal tears up PDM’s show-cause notice in party’s top meeting
Karachi: PPP co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) held at Bilawal House Karachi teared up the show cause notice issued by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
According to GNN, the applause was also received from the CEC participants when the show cause notice was torn down by Bilawal Bhutto.

Addressing the CEC meeting, Bilawal said he had come into politics for respect, and nothing was greater than respect.
The meeting, which has 50 PPP leaders in attendance, is discussing the current political situation and the relations between the Opposition parties and the overall anti-government strategy of the party.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal are presiding over the meeting.
It may be recalled that the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has issued show-cause notices to the PPP and Awami National Party (ANP) for seeking votes from the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) for the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
The ANP had earlier announced its withdrawal from the alliance.
The Awami National Party (ANP) earlier decided to part ways with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
The decision was announced by ANP leader Ameer Haider Khan Hoti during a press conference in Peshawar. The party has blamed certain parties belonging to the Opposition alliance for seeking to promote their agenda.
ANP leaders Zaid Khan, Shahi Syed, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Ameer Haider Khan Hoti while talking at a news conference said that an emergency meeting of the party was conveyed today in which ANP has decided to withdraw itself from the opposition alliance—PDM further stating to resign from all the posts of PDM.
ANP leader Amir Haider Hoti said that when Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was formed, his party’s position was clear on the resignations. “We were of the view that the Long March would be meaningless without resignations,”
Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that PDM has sent his Party a show-cause notice but “we are neither in PML-N nor in PPP so the purpose to send show-cause notice is not clear.
“PDM is not a party’s movement however we are happy with show-cause notice,” but would PML-N get the same notice as it had contested the Senate election with PTI in Punjab seats, he added.
“JUI also allied with PTI, will it also get notice? he questioned.
"A leader's position is not one to be used to attack in such a manner," he said, referring to Fazlur Rehman.
"A leader gives everyone a chance and tries to resolve all differences between parties of an alliance," Hoti added.
Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had decided to give a belligerent response to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’s show-cause notice.
According to party sources, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto directed senior leaders of the party including Sherry Rehman, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Farhatullah Babar, Nayyar Bukhari to prepare a response to the show-cause notice issued by the opposition’s alliance.
The reply draft will be sent to former president Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto for final approval, sources revealed adding that PPP will respond to the show-cause notice in an ‘aggressive’ rather ‘conciliatory manner’.
The sources added that PPP will target Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PDM policies in its response to the show-cause notice.
PPP has also decided to convene an immediate meeting of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) after the show-cause notice was issued.
Earlier yesterday, Pakistan Democratic Movement had served show-causes notices to two of its constituent parties –the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) –over alleged violation of PDM’s consensus decision and principles.
The notices, approved by PDM chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman and sent by Secretary-General PDM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, demand an explanation from both parties within a week for seeking support from the BAP – a part of the ruling coalition – for securing the position of Opposition Leader in Senate for PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani.
PPP notice is sent to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari whereas ANP notice is issued to party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan.
The notification read that PPP and ANP's move has harmed the alliance and movement of PDM.
It is pertinent to mention here that the two main opposition parties — the PPP and the PML-N — were at loggerheads over the matter of the Opposition leader’s slot in the senate.
Reportedly, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders had decided that the Senate chairman would be from the PPP, deputy chairman from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and the Opposition leader’s slot would go to PML-N.
However, PPP avoided the consensus understanding and went ahead to get the slot of the Opposition Leader in Upper House by getting the support of some members of the BAP party, which is part of the government. The ANP stood by the PPP.
It may be recalled that the PDM had issued show-cause notices to the PPP and ANP on the issue of Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
PDM Secretary General Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that by issuing show-cause notices, he has sought an answer from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as to why he got the votes of government members.
