Sindh Governor rejects to sign Karachi Metropolitan University Bill
The creation of a new Metropolitan University is delayed until the new government.
Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has declined to sign the Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) bill with his signature, effectively sending it back to the provincial government.
Governor Tessori's refusal to sign the Karachi Metropolitan University bill has now pushed the legislation back to the provincial government for reconsideration.
As a result, the establishment of the new Metropolitan University will not come into effect until the new government is formed.
In this context, Governor Sindh remarked that the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor for the university has been made by the Mayor or Administrator, while in other universities, the Vice-Chancellor exercises the authority of the Chief Minister of Sindh.
Kamran Tessori highlighted the need to review the sections regarding incorporation or dissolution, therefore sending the bill back to the provincial assembly for further deliberation.
It's important to note that last year, the former provincial cabinet had given approval for the establishment of the Karachi Metropolitan University.
