NADRA operations halt as chairman's appointment delays
The newly appointed NADRA chairman has yet to officially take on his role.
Lahore: Work has come to a halt in all National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) offices across Pakistan as the newly appointed Chairman of NADRA has yet to assume his post.
Lt General Munir Afsar was recently appointed as the new Chairman of NADRA; however, the official takeover of his responsibilities has been delayed.
The delay in the new chairman taking charge has left all NADRA offices non-operational.
NADRA spokesperson has stated that the issuance of signatures on various documents, including identity cards for NADRA customers, will resume once the new chairman officially assumes office.
It's worth noting that the former Chairman of NADRA, Tariq Malik, resigned from his position back in June.
He had submitted his resignation after meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his office.
Tariq Malik had previously resigned from the post of Chairman of NADRA in 2013, citing growing tensions with the then government.
Following his resignation, he relocated to the United States but was later reappointed to the same position.
