NAB to form white-collar crime task force
Chairman NAB approved the addition of new officers to the task force.
Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to form a white-collar crime task force to narrow the circle against corrupt elements.
According to the details, the proposed task force to be formed against the corrupt elements will include the officers of Intelligence, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). While two officers each from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Police Service will be part of the task force.
Chairman NAB approved the addition of new officers to the task force. All the selected officers are proficient in anti-white collar crime. Officers of various institutions are already working on deputation in NAB.
It is pertinent to note that on the day of retirement of the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Umar Atta Bandial, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan's petition against the NAB amendments admissible. Nine out of 10 amendments approved by the Assembly and Parliament have been annulled and the cases against many political figures have been reinstated.
In this regard, the court has directed NAB to send all the records to the concerned courts within seven days. The bench also restored the provision regarding corruption up to Rs500 million under NAB's jurisdiction, which was abolished by the previous Parliament through the NAB Amendment Act.
