The police inform the court that the inclusion of the accused in the investigation will be based on testimonies provided by co-accused individuals.

Rawalpindi: A special court on Friday granted permission to the Rawalpindi police to conduct interrogations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the jail.
The special court authorized Rawalpindi police to question Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail in connection with the case related to the riots that occurred on May 9.
During a special court hearing related to the cipher case, a Rawalpindi police officer appeared and requested permission from the court to interrogate PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Qureshi within the jail premises.
Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain inquired whether Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi had previously been included in the investigation. The police officer explained that both individuals were not initially part of the inquiry.
The officer further informed the court that the inclusion of the accused in the investigation would be based on testimonies provided by co-accused individuals. He added that the police investigators possess a report concerning the May 9 riots in Rawalpindi.
After reviewing the case records against the PTI chief and the vice chairman, Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain granted permission for the police to interrogate Imran Khan and Qureshi in Adiala Jail. The judge clarified that his permission was granted in accordance with the law and extended solely to the questioning of Qureshi.
It's worth noting that earlier this month, a special court established under the Official Secrets Act had formally charged PTI Chairman Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
The proceedings took place in Adiala Jail, where the PTI's legal representatives filed a new petition against the potential indictment. However, both Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi pleaded not guilty and rejected the charges against them.
