Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Tuesday directed to start a campaign to install safety rods on motorbikes to protect the riders from the metal wire of kites.
The fourth meeting of the provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, in which provincial ministers, chief secretary and other top officials participated.
Expressing regret over the loss of precious human lives due to kite flying during the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that a regular campaign should be started to install safety guards on bikes to protect them from the metal wire of kites.
The Punjab Cabinet has approved the formation of a ministerial committee for policy formulation on wheat procurement and other issues. The provincial minister for food will be the head of the committee while the finance minister, agriculture minister and information minister will be members of the committee.
In the meeting, it was also agreed to consult the members of the assembly on matters related to wheat, while the standing committee for wheat and the restructuring of the commodity financing committee of the food department were also approved.
Chief Minister Punjab said in this regard: “It is important to decide on cultivation after determining the needs of the commodity, AI and other technologies should be used to determine the need of the crop in advance”.
The provincial cabinet also agreed to the proposal for a holiday on Easter for Christian employees.
Maryam Nawaz expressed regret over the death of Christian workers in various incidents, saying that the loss of a poor person's life is just news, effective legislation will be enacted to ensure the safety of sentry workers.
During the meeting, it was decided to use cameras and artificial technology in the examination centers to prevent cheating. Maryam directed the ministers, Deputy Commissioner (DC) and other authorities to check, and also ordered the ministers and assembly members to ensure compliance with the law.
The provincial cabinet has approved to send the recommendation to the federal government to award the Quaid-e-Azam police medal to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shahr Bano Naqvi and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gulberg Lahore.
Chief Minister Punjab said that it is necessary to encourage police officers who are doing good work.
The Punjab Cabinet also approved the extension of the contracts of Dealer Vehicle Registration System (DVRS) Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department employees.
