New Delhi: A Maharashtra woman, who recently returned from Pakistan, is under police investigation for allegedly using false documents to get a Pakistani visa.
Indian police claim she used a fake name and Aadhaar card to meet a man she married "online" this year.
Nagma Noor Maksood Ali, also known as Sanam Khan Rukh in her documents, came home on July 17. The police noticed the discrepancy and began investigating.
In 2021, Nagma, under the name Sanam, connected with Babar Bashir Ahmed from Abbottabad, Pakistan, through Facebook. They fell in love and exchanged phone numbers. Her first visa application was rejected.
In February 2024, she married Babar "online" and applied again for a visa, using the name Sanam. She returned to India on July 17.
Nagma's mother, who lives in Thane, disputes the police's claims. She said Nagma changed her name in 2015 after separating from her husband and changed her children's names as well.
