Rain predicted in most cities from today
Strong winds and thundershowers are likely from September 26 to October 1
Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has announced it will rain in most cities from Thursday.
A new rain system will enter Pakistan today due to which rains have been predicted in most of the districts of Punjab.
Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Irfan Kathia while issuing an alert has directed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of the entire province to keep the machinery and staff on alert.
The alert states that strong winds and thundershowers are likely from September 26 to October 1.
According to the statement, with strong winds, rain is likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Guliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur and Lahore.
DG PDMA has directed the local administration across the province to be on alert and that rescue organizations including 1122 and others should keep their staff on alert.
Irfan Kathia said that drainage of water from low-lying areas should be done as soon as possible. People should stay away from dirty houses and dilapidated buildings and children should not go near the water accumulated in low-lying areas.
