Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has also decided to make the dental degree a five-year course.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has issued orders to all universities in this regard.

A PMDC spokesperson said that the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has already made the BDS degree a five-year course. In this regard, the council has issued a letter to all medical universities in Pakistan.

The spokesperson stated that due to the four-year degree, Pakistanis were facing difficulties in getting education and jobs abroad. However, now the fifth year will be of clerkship, after which there will be a one-year house job.
