PMDC to extend dental degree to five years
BDS a five-year course will come into effect from session 2024-25
Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has also decided to make the dental degree a five-year course.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has issued orders to all universities in this regard.
A PMDC spokesperson said that the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has already made the BDS degree a five-year course. In this regard, the council has issued a letter to all medical universities in Pakistan.
The spokesperson stated that due to the four-year degree, Pakistanis were facing difficulties in getting education and jobs abroad. However, now the fifth year will be of clerkship, after which there will be a one-year house job.
According to the PMDC spokesperson, the decision to make BDS a five-year course will come into effect from the session 2024-25.
