PM decides to go for 'Vote of Confidence' on Saturday
Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday while addressing the Nation said that he would go to parliament on Saturday for ‘Vote of Confidence’. Prime Minister further said that if he didn’t get a confidence vote of then he will sit on opposition desk.
Senate elections are important to be talked about, if Senate elections process is understood then public can understand the main disagreement of PTI and Opposition, he added.
Election Commission has saved thieves and damaged our democracy,’ said PM.
"Whether I am in the government or out of the Assembly, I will not spare them," he said, in a televised address to the nation after yesterday's upset in the Senate race.
He said that government went to Supreme Court because Parliament did not support PTI’s stance on Senate polls whereas money is being used since 30-40 years in Senate elections. Six years ago when PTI participated in Senate election, then he realized that money runs in polls.
“Whoever becomes a senator uses money to buy MPs,” he added.
PPP and PML-N had signed charter of Democracy to hold Senate elections by open ballot but they opposed the government’s offer of doing the same, he added.
“Anyone elected by the power of money is not a democracy,” Imran Khan said.
"What happened was that ever since our government came into power, all the corrupt people panicked that since we had a campaign on corruption running, that we would close in on them," the prime minister said.
“I got known of the fact that in 2018 Senate elections 20 members of PTI took money for voting in Senate elections and I kicked-out them from PTI,” said PM.
