IHC grants release order for detained wife of PTI leader Shehryar Afridi.
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued an order on Thursday, for the release of Rabia, the wife of PTI leader Shehryar Afridi, who was detained under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
In a courtroom presided over by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, Rabia was presented during today's hearing.
The Islamabad Inspector General (IG) informed the court that Rabia and her husband were allegedly involved in the attack on the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Expressing discontent, the judge reprimanded the Islamabad police chief and urged him to take necessary action after consulting with his legal team.
The Islamabad deputy commissioner was also summoned to the court, where he stated that Afridi and his wife had been apprehended based on information received from the Special Branch.
