Karachi: On the occasion of New Year, Section 144 has been imposed in Karachi Division, while security has been tightened in various cities of Punjab.
According to the details, a notification to implement Section 144 has been issued in Karachi Division. Commissioner Karachi Salim Rajput said that the decision to implement Section 144 was made because of the New Year.
The announcement stated that there will be a ban on display of weapons, aerial firing and firecrackers in the city, which will continue from tonight till the end of January 1.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has started the implementation of the ban on New Year's Night celebrations in view of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians.
The permits given by the district administration Islamabad for New Year celebrations, musical nights and fireworks etc. have been cancelled.

On the other hand, security arrangements have been completed for New Air Night across Punjab for which a heavy contingent of 21,413 police officers and officials will perform duty in Punjab.
2373 officers will be deployed for the security of New Year programs in Lahore.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, security arrangements have also been completed in other big cities including Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab said that no illegal activity is acceptable in the name of entertainment, parents should never allow their children to be a part of any illegal activities.
