ECP to process SC decision regarding reserved seats
Notification said that ECP works in accordance with law and constitutions
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday decided to proceed the decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the reserved seats to be allotted to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In the declaration of the Election Commission, it was said that there was no misinterpretation of any decision of the institution. The ECP will not consider any kind of pressure but will continue to work according to the constitution and law.
It is very inappropriate to blame the institution. PTI was not a party in this case moved in Election Commission, Peshawar High Court (PHC) and Supreme Court.
The continuous criticism on the Chief Election Commissioner and members by the political party is condemnable.
Today, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in which the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the reserved seats of PTI was considered.
The ECP instructed the legal team to point out if there is any obstacle in the implementation of the decision so that the Supreme Court can be approached for further guidance.
It is pertinent to note that on July 12, the Supreme Court of Pakistan pronounced a protective verdict on the application related to the reserved seats of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
The Supreme Court annulled the decision of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and the Election Commission and ordered to allot the reserved seats to PTI.
