Judicial Commission includes five members of Parliament


Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq nominated the parliamentary parties to the Judicial Commission for the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court.
According to the National Assembly Secretariat, the Speaker has written a letter to the Supreme Judicial Commission (SJC) on the issue of forming the Judicial Commission for the appointment of judges in the Supreme Court, in which the nomination of the parliamentary parties has been informed.
National Assembly Secretariat stated that opposition leader Omar Ayub and Sheikh Aftab of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have been nominated for the Judicial Commission.
It has been informed by the National Assembly Secretariat that Farooq H. Naik and Shibli Faraz have been nominated for the Judicial Commission from the Senate, while Roshan Khursheed Brocha has been nominated for the woman's seat.
According to the spokesperson of the National Assembly, after the approval of the 26th amendment, the Judicial Commission includes five members of Parliament and all the nominations have been sent to the Secretary Judicial Commission while all the nominations have been received by the Supreme Court.
The spokesperson said that there is equal representation of the government and the opposition in the names sent from the parliament.
It is pertinent to note that after the implementation of the 26th Amendment, a special committee of the Parliament appointed Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) among the three senior judges of the Supreme Court.
