Rainfall is expected in the upper areas of Punjab from September 16 to 19

Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert for the 11th spell of monsoon rains.
According to DG PDMA Punjab, Irfan Ali Kathia, rainfall is expected in the upper areas of Punjab from September 16 to 19 under the 11th monsoon spell, raising the risk of flooding in streams and nullahs.
Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed stated that more than 4,700 villages have been affected due to the severe flood situation. A total of 2,475 villages have been impacted by flooding in the Chenab River, while 1,458 villages have been affected by the Ravi River.
Providing an update on the dam water levels, the relief commissioner said that Mangla Dam is currently 93% full, while Tarbela Dam has reached 100% capacity. On the Indian side, the Bhakra Dam on the Sutlej River is 88% full, Pong Dam is at 94%, and Thein Dam is also 88% full.
Due to the ongoing flood situation, a total of approximately 4.574 million people have been affected. So far, 104 people have lost their lives in various incidents caused by the recent floods.
