Lahore: An alleged audio featuring former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI Chairman Imran Khan and US Congresswoman Maxine Waters went viral on the social media on Saturday.
The purported audio conversation has garnered attention amidst an ongoing crackdown on the PTI party following the riots that occurred on May 9.
Imran Khan allegedly sought the Congresswoman’s help in the difficult times.
During the leaked audio conversation, Imran Khan, renowned for his role as Chairman of PTI, can be heard reportedly seeking assistance from Maxine Waters. The conversation delved into the discussion surrounding the removal of his government by former army chief Gen (r) Bajwa, with Imran Khan allegedly requesting Waters to lend her support by issuing a statement and raising her voice in favor of PTI.
Imran Khan, in the audio clip, expressed the current challenges faced by Pakistan and highlighted concerns regarding his personal safety. He asserted that a majority of the Pakistani population desires his return to power, emphasizing that his government's economic performance marked a significant milestone in the country's history.
The leaked audio, believed to have been recorded during a Zoom meeting, captured Imran Khan's purported plea to Maxine Waters, urging her to advocate on his behalf.
It is important to note that Imran Khan has consistently said that his removal from office through a vote of no confidence in 2022 resulted from a foreign conspiracy, with allegations of involvement by the US administration.
