Islamabad: The Islamabad high court (IHC) has summoned sub-ordinate of the interior minister on April 3 on the plea against blocking ‘X’.
According to the details, chief justice Aamir Farooq heard the plea of a citizen against blocking ‘X’. Pakistan telecommunication authority (PTA) submitted the written reply in court.
Chief justice Aamir remarked that ‘X’ is a platform to give freedom of expressions. It can be banned under some law or rule and the reasons should be genuine. The situation can be different if the reason would be national security matter or state security.
PTA’s lawyer presented a letter to the court and said that this letter can only be seen by the court.
Justice Aamir read the letter and stated that there is nothing in it. You should be seeing that letter to petitioner’s lawyer.
Applicant’s lawyer said that this letter is already available on social media.
On which PTA’s lawyer replied that amid this letter the ban has been imposed on ‘X’ because we are restricted to implement on it. The response should be given by Interior minister.
Chief justice stated that this petition represents of so many people who used twitter, whatever written probably no one liked it. There were so many things written on ‘X’ regarding judiciary.
He said that the things got change in previous 20-30 years. You can impose a ban on ‘X’ but it should be under some law or rule.
Later then the court postponed the hearing by April 3.
