Karachi: The Pakistan cricket team won the toss and decided to field against New Zealand in the opening match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy.

According to the details, the opening match is being played in National Stadium Karachi.

Abrar Ahmed gave Pakistan its first victory when New Zealand's first wicket fell for 39 runs, Devon Conway was bowled by Abrar Ahmed for 10 runs.

Later, Naseem Shah dismissed aggressive batsman Kane Williamson for just 1 run. He was caught behind the wickets by Mohammad Rizwan.

Speaking on the occasion of the toss, national team captain Muhammad Rizwan said that a change has been made in the Pakistan team. Fast bowler Haris Rauf has been included in the team in place of Faheem Ashraf.

He stated that dew falls here in the second innings, we are the defending champions, and there will be a little pressure.

Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner said that the wicket at Karachi Stadium looks good, there will be dew at night, fast bowler Matt Henry has returned to the team.

The battle to become the champion among the eight best teams has begun today. The Pakistan-India clash will be held in Dubai on February 23. Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai will be the battlegrounds.
