Islamabad: Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie -- who came to Pakistan as the ambassador of the United Nations in 2010 -- compiled a report on 2010 floods that made Pakistan a laughing stock of the world.

On her return, Angelina Jolie presented her report to the United Nation with "heartbreaking" revelations. Some important points of the report presented by Angelina Jolie are worth mentioning keeping in view the current spate of flash floods across the country.

Torrential rains-led floods have almost completely devastated Balochistan, parts of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab and affectees have been complaining of poor rescue and relief measures taken by the government.

Jolie wrote in her report that she was deeply saddened to see when in front of her the influential government dignarities were not allowing the flood victims to meet her by pushing them away.

"I was further hurt when the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his wish and forced her to see his family members. They [the PM's family] came to Islamabad in a special plane from Multan to see her and also brought valuable gifts for her."

Angelina Jolie further wrote that the Prime Minister's family invited her over lavish meals. "I was deeply saddened to see all kinds of food on the dining table at a time when the people in the country were dying of hunger and this food was enough for several hundred people."

The actress wrote in the report that she was surprised that on the one hand there was hunger, poverty and misery, but on the other the splendor of the Prime Minister's House and many government buildings, and pomp and pageantry of the rulers was enough to surprise the Europeans.

Angelina Jolie advised the United Nations to force Pakistan to end royal protocols, extravagance and wasteful spending before asking for aid.
