Kashmir: After the disqualification of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas in contempt of court case, senior minister Khawaja Farooq became the caretaker Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
The notification was issued on the instructions of the President Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood who signed the summary to appoint interim Prime Minister until the election of the new Leader of the House.
According to the constitution, it is mandatory to elect new prime minister within 14 days.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday (Tuesday) the full court bench of Muzaffarabad High Court headed by Chief Justice High Court Sadaqat Hussain Raja disqualified Tanveer Ilyas, GNN reported.
The court also dismissed his assembly membership, disqualifying him from any public office holding.
Azad Kashmir Supreme Court and High Court today had summoned Tanveer Ilyas for adopting a threatening tone in his speeches.
Tanveer Ilyas apologized unconditionally for his threatening statements against the judiciary. During the hearing, clips of Prime Minister's speeches were played and he was made to confess to contempt of court.
