FDI in Pakistan reaches $146 mln
The increase in FDI reflects the confidence of foreign investors in Pakistan's economic and growth prospects.
Islamabad: Foreign investment in Pakistan increased by 67% to reach 146 million dollars.
According to details, there is a record increase in foreign investment in August 2023, which has reached 146.1 million dollars.
State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) told that monthly income of August 2023 increased by 61.66%. Compared to the same period last year, there was also a significant increase of 15.44% in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
According to August FDI statistics data, inflows reached $197.6 million, reflecting an annual increase of 37.8 percent over the previous year. At the same time, outflows increased to $51.5 million which is high by 2.06 percent from the previous year, indicating a multiple increase.
The portfolio investment segment under FDI recorded an inflow of $6.4 million through equity securities, a significant change from the net sale of equity securities worth $10.5 million in August 2022.
Foreign private investment
Foreign private investment in Pakistan increased substantially, reaching $152.5 million in August 2023. This figure represents a 31.34 percent year-on-year increase over August 2022 when it was $116.1 million.
These FDI figures serve as a promising economic indicator for Pakistan, showing the country's ability to attract foreign capital despite global economic uncertainty.
The increase in FDI reflects the confidence that foreign investors have in Pakistan's economic prospects and growth prospects.
