Karachi: The citizens resorted to protest over hours long power outages amid a scorching heatwave on Monday.

The Members of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), led by Afaq Ahmed and businessman Sharjeel Goplani, gathered at Numaish roundabout to express their discontent with K-Electric.

Goplani emphasized the pivotal role of electricity in sustaining businesses, stressing the importance of prioritizing traders and industrialists globally. He also revealed facing legal repercussions for speaking out against K-Electric's inefficiencies.

These protests echo previous demonstrations against the privatization of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), signaling longstanding dissatisfaction with utility services.

The traders lamented K-Electric's inadequate distribution system, incapable of meeting the city's electricity demand, which peaks at 3,700 megawatts while the system can only provide 2200 megawatts.
