The PDMA's notification says there is a possibility of 15 to 50 mm of rain in the first week of July, and 25 to 35 mm in the second week

Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Sunday issued a notification to the administration across the province regarding the monsoon rains, saying that this year there is a likelihood of 35% more rainfall.
PDMA forecast the start of the monsoon rains in Punjab from July 1.
According to the PDMA's notification, there is a possibility of 15 to 50 mm of rain in the first week of July, and 25 to 35 mm in the second week.
The notification indicates that in the third week of July, upper and southern Punjab may receive 15 to 25 mm of rain, while the fourth week may see 50 to 70 mm of rainfall. Heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected in upper, central, and southern Punjab.
The PDMA's notification warns of the risk of urban flooding and hill torrents in southern Punjab due to monsoon rains in July.
In accordance with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's instructions, relevant departments have been alerted.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia emphasized that district administrations should ensure all precautionary measures are in place before the monsoon rains, and that the cleaning of streams and drainage systems should be completed as soon as possible.
