Pakistan has made significant development about the procurement of COVID vaccine, where 2.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine will reach the country from the United States (US) today.

Sources in the Ministry of Health said that the Moderna shot has been provided by the US as aid. While a strategy will be chalked out soon to provide US-made vaccine to those going abroad.
In addition to the Chinese anti-corona vaccines, AstraZeneca and Pfizer are also being used in Pakistan.
Pakistan is expected to get more doses of the UK made coronavirus vaccine in July.
The Biden administration announced shipping 2 million doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine to Peru and 2.5 million doses of the Moderna vaccine to Pakistan.
Earlier in June, Joe Biden announced his plans to allocate 75 per cent of unused Covid-19 vaccines through the UN-backed Covax global vaccine sharing programme, the White House announced on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the death toll from coronavirus in Pakistan has been steadily declining, with only 24 deaths reported in one day.

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine
The company has announced that trials had shown that its two-dose COVID vaccine is highly effective in children over 12 years old.
After two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, there were no cases of the virus in study participants, Moderna said in a press release, meaning it was 100% effective at preventing COVID-19.
The vaccine was 93% effective in children ages 12-17 two weeks after a single dose, the company added. The Moderna vaccine was granted conditional marketing authorisation for adults in the European Union on January 6.
