Dengue cases surge in Lahore, Rawalpindi

Lahore: With the monsoon rains, an increase has been observed in the number of dengue patients in Lahore and other parts of Punjab.

At least 11 new cases of dengue have been reported in provincial capital, owing to the accumulation of rain water,  while there is fear of increasing mosquito breeding during the monsoon season.

According to the health department's statistics, the number of dengue patients in various areas of the city is continuously increasing. In response to this situation, the health department has issued an alert and advised citizens to take preventive measures against dengue.

On other hands, in a meeting chaired by the Commissioner of Rawalpindi this was informed that so far this year, 27 confirmed dengue cases have been reported in the city. Due to violations of SOPs, 496 FIRs have been filed, 216 buildings have been sealed, 829 challans have been issued, and fines exceeding 1.2 million rupees have been imposed.

Over the past seven days, 108 FIRs have been filed, 11 buildings have been sealed, 85 challans have been issued, and fines totaling 136,000 rupees have been imposed for violations of SOPs.
