Presidential decree issued to increase SC judges' salaries
Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani issued orders to increase salaries.
Islamabad: Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani has issued a decree to increase the salaries of Supreme Court judges, including Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
The basic salary of the Chief Justice of Pakistan has been raised by approximately 20%, amounting to PKR 1,229,189 and other Supreme Court judges have also been increased by 20%, totaling PKR 1,161,163.
decree states that the new salaries will come into effect from July 1.
Sadiq Sanjrani issued the decree in his capacity as the acting president since President Arif Alvi is currently out of the country on the Hajj pilgrimage.
Last week, Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin stated during a private TV program that the basic salaries of all Supreme Court and High Court judges would be increased by 20% before June 30.
The summary for this purpose has already been submitted.
Shaukat Tarin further mentioned that the provision of the Chairman Senate's perks was not included in the Money Bill.
The PML-N has decided not to support the Chairman Senate's perks and will not allow it to be passed in the National Assembly.
Before this, the government had referred the details of the salaries to the Public Accounts Committee, which revealed the salaries of the President of the country, Prime Minister, and Chief Justice of Pakistan.
According to the Auditor General's report, the President of the country receives a salary of PKR 896,550, the Prime Minister receives PKR 215,000, and the Chief Justice of Pakistan receives PKR 1,575,000.
Additionally, a Supreme Court judge receives a salary of PKR 1,470,000.
According to the Auditor General's report, the federal minister's salary is PKR 338,125, the salary of a member of parliament is PKR 188,000, and a Grade 22 federal officer receives a salary of PKR 591,475.
